The Community Investment Support Fund (CISF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to a mission of “promoting economic development and facilitating investment of capital to support community revitalization, the nonprofit sector and in underserved markets.” CISF helps to increase access to the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program, which offers millions of dollars in economic development capital for investments in low-income communities. The federal tax credit afforded by the program attracts equity to bridge financing gaps that often prevent community revitalization and economic redevelopment efforts in urban areas, from succeeding. Through its utilization of the NMTC program, CISF serves nonprofits, for-profits and other entities in ways not possible through conventional financing. The foundation community is a key partner with CISF to help the organization facilitate these investments.
