Celeste moved to Detroit from New York City where she has lived in every borough with the exception of the Bronx and Staten Island. She received a Master in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania’s PennDesign in 2007. For the past five years, she has held various roles in the public and private sectors. Most recently in New York, she worked as a Project Manager with the Office of Bicycle & Pedestrian Programs at the New York City Department of Transportation. On the tiny island of Tobago she worked with a private contractor to develop and construct eco-friendly vacation homes.

At Work

Currently, Celeste works with the East Jefferson Corridor Collaborative as the Director of Corridor Revitalization. She has been tasked with implementing Phase I of the East Jefferson Avenue Streetscape Project between Burns and Sheridan Streets on the Lower East Side of Detroit. She is also researching ways to fund public improvements through special assessments; as well as pursuing grant applications to implement streetscape enhancements.

At Play

Celeste enjoys baking and perfecting her cookie recipes. She also enjoys biking, skiing and occasionally yoga. Celeste walks or bikes to work daily.
