Matteo Passalacqua
BIO
Matteo was born and raised in the Metro Detroit region having lived in Detroit, Royal Oak, Rochester Hills, Grand Rapids and Flint MI. He received his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in 2007 and his Masters from Wayne State University in 2010. Matteo has worked in several professions both leading up to, and after his degree’s including truck driving, car restoration, convention center management, community development, land bank consulting and urban planning & development.
At Work
Through the fellowship, Matteo was selected by the Vanguard Community Development Corporation (VGCDC) as their Real Estate Manager. There, he is currently presiding over Vanguard’s Living Cities and LISC allocations to do various types of redevelopment in the North End Neighborhood. Matteo is also responsible for VGCDC’s current real estate portfolio and is implementing plans to maximize these properties operational efficiency and community impacts.
Current pipeline projects include park creation and expansion, infill urban housing, commercial and mixed use development, creative class institutions, corridor revitalization, sustainable retrofitting, transportation improvements and small business development.

At Play
Matteo enjoys working on classic cars and spending time with his family and friends. When possible, traveling to cities throughout the world to search for the best practices of urban ingenuity is one of Matteo’s greatest passions. Taking the road less traveled always yields the highest reward.
